The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offers this advice:
- Educate yourself on your loved one's medical condition, including the physicians, active treatments and insurance.
- Have conversations with your loved one about issues such as health care wishes and finances.
- Bring together other loved ones to discuss care. Reach out to community resources such as Meals on Wheels and others who may offer assistance.
- Don't neglect your own health and well-being.
